When we travel we find that we often have a different ‘take’ on what we see and photograph. In this talk we shall present a glimpse of our photographic exploration of wildlife, culture and landscapes during travels in Hokkaido and mainland Japan in winter, the Shetlands and Svalbard, in the last couple of years.

This will be a practical session led by Carmen Norman looking at Still Life photography, so bring your cameras along.

Hand in entries for 1^st  Open competition

A look at some basic Photoshop techniques used in making composite images. It will include: making selections, layers, masks and applying textures using some of my recent work as examples.

"A presentation that covers various aspects of my photography, looking at architecture, landscapes, seascapes, long exposures, cityscapes and a section called anything goes. The evening is a mixture of mono and colour and also shows some before and after work."

Hand in entries for 1^st Set Subject competition. The subject set by Tony Marsh is "Small". Entries can be any combination of prints and PDI's up to a total of three.

This pushes us to our limits to capture wildlife in extreme conditions. From the cold and snow of Japan to the hot and dusty Kalahari desert and then back to the cold again for Polar Bears in Churchill, Canada. Also Mountain Hares in the Scottish Cairngorms and other UK wildlife.

This talk is about capturing the night sky and solar system objects, i.e. the sun & moon, and incorporating these into a landscape. I talk about the challenges involved, such as where to shoot, light pollution and how to operate in darkness.

A talk about how I approach wildlife photography in the UK with additional background information on some of the subjects I photograph. Subject matter will include numerous birds but also other animals.

A live demonstration showing how I process a number of my landscape images using Photoshop and Lightroom. I will include lots of tips on sharpening, avoiding and removing halos, foolproof ways of adding or removing elements in the image and the use of blend modes and luminosity masks. I will vary the programme to try and answer any questions posed by the audience
